Description:
- Ensure compliance to occupational Safety, Health and Environmental requirements in the Region by staff, contractors and sub-contractors by:
- Managing the implementation of an ISO 18000 compliant programme for all activities in the Region.
- Ensuring the value chain includes appropriate occupational health and safety throughout the life cycle of a project
- Ensuring the implementing of occupational Safety, Health and Environmental standards for all work in the Region
- Ensuring compliance to business standards and legislation when work is conducted
- Ensuring legislative requirements are met with the appointments of appropriate safety structures
- Manage occupational Safety, Health and Environmental risk control systems and ensures that reporting, recording and investigation systems are in place by:
- Ensuring the implementation of occupational Safety, Health and Environmental risk control requirements and strategies
- Analysing and make recommendations for the implementation of occupational health and safety risk control measures in consultation with stakeholders
- Monitoring the implementation and maintenance of the Safety, Health and Environmental management systems
- Monitoring the identified risks the implementation of occupational Safety, Health and Environmental risk control processes
- Reviewing risk assessments, risk profiles, reports, research data to provide management with solutions to problems and non conformance
- Developing a detailed auditing and reviewing process to ensure compliance to legal and business requirements
- Reporting on risks to the Regional governance structures and forums
- Provide an occupational Safety, Health and Environmental consultancy/advisory service to management and staff by:
- Advising on legislative and business risks to line management
- Providing advice on procedures, standards, and methodologies related to risk management practices
- Advising on risk assessments, risk profiles, risk audits according to methodologies
- Representing the Region at relevant forums
- Ensuring that best practices are identified through interaction with professional institutes and subject specialists
- Develop and implement risk profiles by:
- Applying integrated risk assessment techniques and tools in alignment with legislation and best practices
- Providing input into the development and formulation of risk strategies and processes to ensure risk mitigation in the Region
- Reviewing the physical and activity based risk assessments on a continuous basis
- Reviewing and making recommendation to the Region on the implementation of the risk strategies
- Ensure compliance to legislative and governance requirements of the Region by:
- Ensuring implementation of an integrated risk management audit plan in the region
- Analysing audit findings and recommend action plans to correct deviations.
- Monitoring the implementation of risk mitigation strategies in alignment with identified risks
- Conducting formal investigations and analysis on accidents for input on lessons to learned for the Region
- Ensuring that recommendations and lessons learned are implemented to mitigate the risk
- Advises on training needs analysis to provide training, information and instruction to the Region, the public and contractors to meet Eskom and legal requirements by:
- Ensuring that relevant risk training is available to staff and contractor employees.
- Ensuring that relevant risk training is conducted and implemented in the Region.
- Researching and providing inputs into the development of training material in line with legal requirements and identified risks.
